Ethereum developers aim to launch the Fusaka upgrade in November to boost speed and efficiency.
- Fusaka will include 11 new improvement proposals.
- Two public testnets will run before the final release.
- Glamsterdam upgrade features will be confirmed in August.
What Is the Fusaka Upgrade?
Ethereum plans to release its next major network upgrade, called Fusaka, in early November. This comes six months after the last upgrade, Pectra, which helped improve staking and layer-2 support. Fusaka includes 11 improvement proposals (EIPs) that aim to make the network faster, more secure, and more scalable.
Major Changes Coming
One key proposal in the Fusaka upgrade is EIP-7825. It will help protect Ethereum from attacks and improve how the network grows. Another big change is a possible increase in the gas limit to 150 million. This would let Ethereum process more activity at once, making it cheaper and faster to use.
However, EIP-7907, which would have doubled contract code size and changed how gas is counted, was removed to keep testing on track. Ethereum developers want this upgrade ready by the Devconnect conference in Buenos Aires, which runs from November 17 to 22.
Testing Phases and Future Plans
Before Fusaka fully launches, developers will run two public testnets—one in September and another in October. These test networks give the community a chance to try out the new features without affecting real transactions.
After Fusaka, developers will focus on the next upgrade, called Glamsterdam. The features included in Glamsterdam will be confirmed during a meeting on August 1. Developers are also discussing future improvements like cutting block times to six seconds and raising the gas limit to 45 million to make Ethereum more efficient for users.
